Association of Francophones and Francophiles of the Northwest (AFFNO)
Founded in 2000, the Association of Francophones and Francophiles of the Northwest (AFFNO) promotes the French language and culture throughout Northwestern British Columbia. Active in Prince Rupert, Terrace, Kitimat, Smithers, and surrounding communities, it brings together francophones, francophiles, and those passionate about French culture.

AFFNO works to strengthen the presence and visibility of the French language in the region through cultural, educational, and community-based initiatives that encourage connection, sharing, and inclusion.
Our activities and mission
The association organizes major events such as the Sugar Shack Festival, National Holiday celebrations, artistic workshops, and school activities. Its mission is to promote the French language, support French immersion schools, and actively contribute to community vitality across the Northwest.
